Modern and flexible operations

Operating since 2006, MSCTV is currently the only terminal in the Port of Valencia which is equipped with 8 Malaccamax ship-to-shore cranes capable of handling the biggest container vessels. MSCTV is handling an average of 1.6M TEU per year, using an advanced Terminal Operating System, modern equipment, and flexible organization in coordination with its clients.

Setting the bar high for sustainable operations

MSCTV is constantly improving its operations, communications, and procedures and teaming up with public authorities, to reduce its carbon footprint.

Since 2018, MSCTV has reduced its CO2 emissions from yard operations by 65%, a reduction that was largely achieved by electrifying 77% of its yard cranes. The terminal is also participating with Hyster-Yale in the H2Ports project, by testing the use of a hydrogen powered reach stacker and is setting up a prototype for shore power supply (cold ironing), in order to supply electricity to the containerships and reduce their emissions during the port stays.

In addition, MSCTV implemented an Environmental Management System following the UNE EN ISO 14001: 2015 standards and was consequently certified

Future growth

To cater for future growth, TiL has plans to expand its presence in Valencia to include a 4.8M TEU fully automated state-of-the-art terminal. This expansion plan aims to also increase the efficiency and reliability of the operations while decreasing the carbon footprint. The expansion project is expected to be developed in three phases and to be equipped with 22 ship-to-shore cranes, 50 automated stacking cranes and 160 automated guided vehicles. The operations are therefore expected to be fully electrified, meaning reducing direct greenhouse gas emissions to zero.
